Across all versions of Zoom desktop client, mobile app, and web portal , there are three main ways of inviting participants to your meeting. These can all be accessed slightly differently depending on the client or app you are using. There can only be one meeting host at a time. A Zoom meeting co-host has access to most of the host meeting controls, allowing them to manage the meeting. A co-host must be assigned by the host during a meeting. Co-hosts cannot start a meeting. To start a meeting in the hosts absence, hosts can assign an alternative host. If you join a meeting and there is no host, you can claim host controls using the host key.
This can be great for meetings where participants can join before the host, to ensure a secure and safe meeting environment. The Zoom host key associated with a meeting is the host key that is required to claim host controls for that meeting.
So you need to enter the host key of the person who is the creator and original host of that meeting; entering your own host key will not grant you host privileges.
After your host key has been verified, you will be assigned as the meeting host and will gain access to host controls. A host key is essentially a safety feature for controlling meetings and managing participant actions.
If someone has gained access to your host key, or you suspect your host key has been used without your permission, you may want to change your key. You may also simply want to change your host key to a sequence you can remember easily.
However, be careful not to make the host key too simple for other people to guess e. For example, if you have someone who regularly hosts meetings that you have scheduled, you could leave the host key as is so they can easily do this when you need.

After you’ve created your meeting you’ll want to notify the participants. Go to your Zoom meetings dashboard and click on the meeting topic. Click on Copy Invitation to the right of the Invite Link. Click the Copy Meeting Invitation button to copy the invitation text to the clipboard.
Now you can paste that to an email, into Blackboard or however you wish to notify your participants. The easiest way to start your meeting is to go to your Zoom meetings dashboard.
Find your meeting in the Upcoming Meetings list and click the Start button next to it. Come Visit Tours Locations. Enter the meeting topic, an optional description, the date and time the meeting starts, and the duration. The time zone should default to the one set for your account.

Even if you choose off, the participants will have the option to start their video. Audio Options: choose whether to allow users to call in via Telephone Only or Computer audio or both. Require Meeting Password: You can select and input your meeting password here.
Joining participants will be required to input this before joining your scheduled meeting. Advanced Options : Click on the arrow to view additional meeting options. Enable join before host: Allow participants to join the meeting without you or before you join. The meeting will end after minutes for Basic free users if 3 or more people join the meeting. Mute Participants Upon Entry : If join before host is not enabled, this will mute all participants as they join the meeting.
If not selected, a random unique meeting ID will be generated. Record the meeting automatically : Check this if you want the meeting to be automatically recorded. Select if you want it to be recorded locally to your computer or to the cloud video. Alternative Hosts : Enter the email address of another Zoom user with a Pro license on your account to allow them to start the meeting in your absence.

For example, if you choose Outlook , when you click Schedule in the next step, it will open a new appointment in Outlook with the Zoom meeting information already populated and you can simply add invitees as you would with any Calendar Appointment.
